The Rise of Fare Price... To make it a fair price

Auto and Taxi Driver will start to feel heard again after on Tuesday, the Maharashtra transport department gave its go-ahead to increase auto fares by ₹2 and taxi fares by ₹30, and hence the autos and taxi chalks have to get their meters recalibrated by November 30, 2022. The decision to hike fares was a byproduct of numerous collective strike threats imposed and promised by the respective unions.

In the present day, Mumbai has 48,000 taxis and two lakh autorickshaws running on the street under the city's registration. Also at present l, the minimum fare while opting for taxis is Rs 25 for a ride for 1.5-km and on the other hand, it is Rs 21 for traveling in autos. After the implemented changes, the minimum fare for taxis rises to Rs 28 and Rs.23 for autorickshaws.

The above news is based on the announcement made at the official conference where AL Quadros, president of Taximen Union, said "An official notification will be issued soon by the government. We are happy that the minimum fares have been increased as what we demanded,”.

The official statement by the state transport government is yet to make. The news is happy and cheerful news for the drivers but a pocket alert for the citizens. Either way, the decision was made by the State Government of Maharashtra.
